"As
we move into the twenty-first century, one of the most pervasive forces
driving all spheres of human endeavor will be committment to environmental
stewardship." -Paul Tchounwou Environmental Science Ph.D. Program |
Jackson State
University (JSU) is the urban university of Mississippi and is the sole institution
in the State that offers an Environmental Science Ph.D. Program.
Recognizing
the need for a strong preparation in facing present and future environmental
challenges, the School of Science and Technology at JSU is taking an innovative
approach to environmental science education, one that integrates academic training,
research and practical experience into a cohesive program of study focused on
the full range of environmental problems that plague our communities, our state,
our nation and our planet.
The Environmental
Science Ph.D. Program started in Fall 1992 as a new interdisciplinary program
based upon the integration of natural and applied science.
