Summer Research Internship
Each McNair Scholar is required to participate in a Summer Research Internship at Jackson State University. The Scholar is paired with a Faculty Mentor who is selected in collaboration with the McNair Program Director. The Faculty Mentor assists the Scholar in selecting a research topic, developing a research proposal, and preparing research findings for presentation at Major Conferences and for publication in a major journal.
Financial Assistance
A McNair Scholar may receive a maximum financial award of $2,800 each program year. Funds are distributed by the Project Director and may be used for in-state tuition (6 hrs.) room and board during the Summer Research Internship as stipulated by the agreement with the funding agency. A portion of the allowance may also be allotted for stipends during fall and spring semesters.
