Traditional Faculty
If you desire to use Blackboard to deliver content in a traditional (face-to-face) course, you must complete the Introduction to Blackboard training. To register for training go to the Information Technology Online Registration Site. Trainings are conducted in the Faculty Development Center at the Mississippi eCenter or offered online.
Distance Learning Faculty (Online and Hybrid Courses)
To convert your course to a Distance Learning course, you must complete three trainings and receive approval from the Distance Learning Department. The trainings needed are:
o DL 501 – Introduction to Blackboard 9.1
o DL 502 - Designing and Creating Courses in Blackboard 9.1
o DL 503 - Teaching with Blackboard 9.1
Two forms should also be submitted which are the Course Proposal and Course action forms. Click here to access the required forms. If you have any question regarding Distance Learning Courses please contact the Center for Distance Learning and Instructional Technology at 601-979-1369.
Students
It is recommended that all online learners take the Blackboard Online Orientation. In this orientation, students will be introduced to the different Blackboard Learn 9.1 components, learn how to submit assignments, view grades, use the discussion board, send emails, and other elements that may assist you in completing your online course successfully. Click here to register using the Online Student Registration System. Shortly afterward, you will receive an email with information on how to login to the orientation.
