What services do you provide?
The Office of Publications can provide and/or obtain any type of reproductions that may be needed by our customers. Can the Office of Publications print jobs larger than 11" X 17"?
No. However, the Office of Publications is very aware of the need for oversized documents, and arrangements have been made to meet this need by utilizing other sources.
How long will it take the Office of Publications to produce my job?
One to five working days. However, in many instances, a job may be completed in less time. Circumstances regarding complexity very often dictate the length of time required to complete your job.
What is the process for getting business cards printed?
Following the specifications outlined in the JSU Licensing Program and University Logo Guidelines, July 2004, you should select the style unique to you or your area, acquire the appropriate information to be placed on the card, decide the number of cards to be ordered (other pertinent information, e.g., color of card, stock on which cards are to be printed), and fax, email or bring that information to the Office of Publications. A staff member will receive your information, answer any other questions the customer may have, while obtaining any other pertinent information needed to complete the request, and give the customer a price quote for the job. Customer will then have service charged to his/her Super Card or he/she will process a requisition for the cost of the service. After payment has been received in the Office of Publications, a proof of the card will be provided to the customer. The customer should carefully peruse the proof for errors, finding none, the Proof Sheet is checked indicating the desired action, signed, dated and returned to Publications. The first proof is FREE. If changes are indicated after the first proof, and are not the fault of Publications, a fee is incurred as follows: If changes altar the formatted page, a fee of $10.00 is charged. If the change does not altar the formatted page, a fee of $5.50 is charged. If additional charges are incurred, a customer must pay all additional charges prior to receiving the completed job.
This procedure holds true for practically all services provided by the Office of Publications. However, in instances where this is not applicable, procedures unique to that situation are employed.
Can I send my job directly to the Office of Publications electronically to be reproduced?
YES. There is a Digital StoreFront link located to the left on this web page. This link will allow you to become a registered user enabling you to send your jobs electronically to the Office of Publications. There is also a Digital StoreFront Instructions link that will walk you through the process. Please call the staff at 601-979-2613 if you have a problem.
Why does the Office of Publications not have QuarkXPress?
The number of offices requesting a particular software program dictates whether or not that software program is made available to the campus community by the Office of Information Management. Currently, less than five percent of the campus community is using QuarkXPress.
Who can utilize the services offered in the Office of Publications?
Almost anyone. While University requirements for service take priority over any other, the Office of Publications does take in jobs that are not University related. In cases where a non-University job is received, that customer is required to pay a 7% state tax unless he/she can provide proof (your tax exempt status letter from the Mississippi State Tax Commission showing your tax exempt number) of his/her tax exempt status. Employees of the University ARE NOT tax exempt.
What method of payment does the Office of Publications have, and why Publications can not receive cash payment?
Our methods of payment include cash, Super Card, check, credit card, money order or requisition. Again, ALL customers who are non-University departments are required to pay a 7% state sales tax unless he/she can provide proof (your tax exempt status letter from the Mississippi State Tax Commission showing your tax exempt number) of his/her tax exempt status. Employees of the University ARE NOT tax exempt.
Absolutely NO CASH can be received in the Office of Publications! All payments MUST be made in the Office of Financial Services. It is University policy.
Do you have paper for the Lanier LC155 color copier other than white?
NO/YES. There is only white paper made specifically for the color copier. It is not recommended that papers not made for the color copies be used at all. This is not to say that you cannot get a color paper. Other avenues can be employed that will allow us to accommodate our customers. Prior to considering a color paper for color copies, you might want to consider that colors on color paper are usually distorted.
Can my job be started prior to Publications receiving my payment?
NO. While we make every effort to accommodate our customers, this practice has proven not to be the most workable situation for Publications.
Can I use my personal Super Card in Publications?
YES.
What is the cost for copying?
A number of determinants make up the price for copies: is it black/white or color; what size is needed; how many pages; is document single-sided or double-sided, and type of paper to be used.
