Behavioral Health Promotion and Education focuses on health related behavior in communities, sociocultural structures, healthcare systems, and family units. Of particular interest is how individual’s health-related behaviors are determined by their social, political, cultural, economic, physical, and biological environments.
We emphasize indentifying, evaluating, and reducing unhealthy behaviors and promoting positive personal health.
We integrate and apply public health theories and methods to problems of human health. Assessment, planning, and evaluation of the sociocultural aspects of health guide our study of health promotion and education.
