Minority Vendor Information
Jackson State University takes great pride in the relationship between the University and the minority business community. Each year we increase our minority vendor relationships by adding more and more vendors to our list. If you are a minority vendor and have a great product or service and would like to offer them to Jackson State University please contact us. We would love to introduce your product or service to our faculty and staff.
Jackson State University's Office of Procurement Services holds vendor fairs and participates in local vendor fairs and workshops in an attempt to promote business activity between Jackson State University and minority vendors and contractors. Contact us if there is a vendor fair or workshop that you would like Jackson State University to participate.
For the purpose of clarification, the term “minority business” means a business which is owned by a majority of persons who are United States citizens or permanent resident aliens (as defined by the Immigration and Naturalization Service) of; the United States, and who are Asian, Black, Hispanic or Native American, according to the following definitions:
• “Asian” mean persons having origins in any of the original people of the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, or the Pacific Islands.
• “Black” mean persons having origins in any black racial group of Africa.
• “Hispanic” means persons of Spanish or Portuguese culture with origins in Mexico, South or Central America, or the Caribbean Islands, regardless of race.
• “Native American” mean persons having origins in any of the original people of North America, including American Indians, Eskimos and Aleuts.
