The
"Spirit of Safety" Lighthouse Conference
presents the
V.I.P. Institute
Violence Intervention and Prevention
in Schools, Colleges, and Universities
Thank you for your interest in the V.I.P. Institute sponsored by the
College of Lifelong Learning at Jackson State University. The members
of the planning committee are working hard to prepare an informative
institute that will share information on violence prevention, strategies
to avoid violent incidents; intervention, strategies to carry out
during a violent situation; and supervention, strategies to address
the outcomes of violence in schools, colleges, and universities. The
goals of the V.I.P. Institute are two-fold: to help educators, counselors,
paraprofessionals, school administrators, school security officers,
law enforcement, youth service providers, social workers, government
officials, and parents develop positive character and behaviors in
youths for a violence- free world; to improve responses to violence
should it occur.
Objective of the V.I.P.
Institute
• Share practical ideas and research-based strategies to help
professionals identify, assess, and react to potential threats of
violence and implement prevention and intervention plans.
How is the V.I.P. Institute different from out past conferences?
This institute is primarily hands-on training, whereby past consisted
of mostly lecture style sessions.
Join us as we provide hands-on training and exchange information on
new developments and proven practices in the areas of:
• Violence Prevention
Planning
• Conflict Resolution
• Managing Disruptive Behaviors
• Character Education
• Preventing Bullying
• Reducing Gang/Cult
Violence
• And More....
Join us at the Universities Center
in the Jackson State University College of Lifelong Learning building
in Jackson, Mississippi on November 12-13, 2009, for the V.I.P. Institute.
We are confident that we have some of the very best presenters in
the field of school violence prevention at this conference. You will
not want to miss the opportunity to learn new strategies that can
make a difference in your school and community. This website contains
