Computer science combines intellectual challenge with the excitement of being part of an innovative and rapidly expanding technology.

The Computer Science Department is responsive to the educational needs of its students, offering both B.S. and M.S. degrees. The programs combine thorough preparation in the fundamentals of computing with the opportunity for more advanced work in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Computational Science.

The teaching and research facilities of the Computer Science Department are housed in the John A. Peoples Science Building. The department features state-of-the-art resources, including multimedia and high performance computers, all connected to the campus network and the Internet.

The Jackson State University (JSU) Department of Computer Science was established in 1972 as a part of the Division of Natural Sciences. Over the years our growth has accelerated steadily making us one of the largest departments at the University.
