The College of Science, Engineering and Technology at Jackson State University has distinguished itself with outstanding faculty and staff who are dedicated to providing both quality education and science leadership necessary to achieve the highest possible level of excellence. The College is committed to implementing the University’s urban mission and to focusing its intellectual and other resources on improving the quality of life for students, the surrounding community, state, nation and the global community. The College of Science, Engineering and technology consists of two Schools, the School of Science and Technology and the School of Engineering.

The School of Engineering comprises four departments:

Civil Engineering; Computer Engineering; Computer Science; Graduate Engineering Program. Program of study includes Civil and Computer Engineering. The Civil Engineering Program will offer specializations in: Hydraulics, Transportation and Structures. The Computer Engineering Program will offer specialization in Software, Hardware and Telecommunications.

The School of Science & Technology comprises five departments:

Biology; Chemistry; Mathematics; Technology; and Physics, which also houses Atmospheric and Science Education Programs. Over 2000 students are enrolled in the undergraduate and graduate programs and 100 full-time faculty members are involved in teaching, research and service. The College has major interdisciplinary research programs in Biomedical Science, Environmental Science and Computational Science. Teams of faculty researchers join with graduate and undergraduate students to solve problems in engineering, bioremediation, atmospheric science, molecular structure and dynamics, human health and other problems in basic and applied science. The faculty has produced outstanding research and members publish in prestigious journals. Many of our undergraduate students have gone on to become research faculty, medical professionals, industrial scientists and entrepreneurs.

As we advance in this millennium, we are redefining the Jackson State University College of Science, Engineering and Technology. The School’s Ph.D. programs in
Chemistry and Environmental Science, our dedicated young faculty, our strong emphasis on undergraduate research, continued commitment to recruiting highly motivated students and continued growth in other innovative programs, will help to define our future.
