Beatrice B. Mosley Center for Excellence in Education
The Beatrice B. Mosley Center for Excellence in Education is a support unit designed to serve as a catalyst in promoting excellence in all teacher education programs at Jackson State University. It comprises four major components: faculty and student development, research development, microcomputer and micro-teaching simulation laboratories, and networking and evaluation. These components, supported by a diversity of resources and services, seek to facilitate excellence in teaching, learning and clinical practice at the University.

Curriculum Resource Center
The Curriculum Resource Center is designed to provide (a) practicum experiences for prospective and in-service teachers through simulated classroom experiences; (b) facilities for designing and constructing two-and-three dimensional instructional aids; (c) a variety of audiovisual aids; and (d) a readily accessible model library of elementary and secondary curriculum materials and textbooks which have been collected to assist teacher training courses.

JSU/NASA Educator Resource Center (A University Designated Educational Research Center)
The Educator Resource Center at Jackson State University is sponsored in part by NASA’s Stennis Space Center and provides educators with a chance to receive free educational materials and attend professional development workshops. The ERC contains a vast collections of materials for educators, including: videotapes, software, printed materials , and lesson plans that reflect the most recent scientific discoveries about space, oceans, and the Earth. Subjects range from science and geography to meteorology, astronomy, social studies, and environmental science.

NASA/Stennis aerospace education specialists, trained JSU faculty and staff, and other invited educational experts routinely conduct staff development workshops for K-12 teachers of mathematics, science, technology as well as other subjects. The Center is also involved in various research related activities.

Lottie W. Thorton Early Childhood Laboratory Center
The Early Childhood Laboratory Center provides childcare services for faculty, students, and the general community and serves a multi-purpose entity for use in the area of teacher education. It offers diversified laboratory experiences for graduate and undergraduate students in cognitive, psychomotor and the social development of young children. It facilitates the curriculum and research efforts of university students and faculty.

The Office of Professional and Field Services
The Office of Professional and Field Services provides supportive services in teacher education. The five-stage program is a systematic strategy for structured, real-world practice in the delivery of required clinical and field-based experiences at both the basic and advanced levels. Thus, all internships, field, clinical and student teaching experiences are under the auspices of this office. The office is also responsible for the evaluation of transcripts of applicants seeking teacher certification. Admission to the Teacher Education Program does not guarantee admission to student teaching; the student must file an application for approval by the Director of Professional and Field Services. Supervised student teaching is required for teacher certification by the state of Mississippi and most other states. Requirements for certification may be obtained through this office.

Professional Test Preparation Clinic
The Professional Test Preparation Clinic is an intervention strategy designed to provide students systematic test preparation workshops on professional examinations required for admission to colleges and universities and for professional examinations required for professional certifications. The Clinic is equipped with multimedia Macintosh and NEC computers, and a variety of software packages.

Computer Laboratories
The Computer Laboratories are designed to support the academic curriculum and to encourage personal enrichment for students and staff in the application of computer technology in education. The laboratories' resources include 20 multimedia network computers with Internet connectivity and appropriate software packages.
Counseling Laboratory
The Counseling Laboratory is designed to provide students an opportunity to practice, develop, demonstrate and refine those counseling skills and competencies essential for a successful practicum prior to their placement in the field. Statistics Laboratory
The Statistics Laboratory is designed to provide the facilities needed to promote research and successful instruction and practice of the statistical techniques and procedures. The laboratory resources include 20 multimedia network computers with Internet connectivity and various software packages.
Electronic Classroom
The Electronic Classroom is equipped with two-way interactive video and audio conferencing for distance learners. The classroom is used to transmit courses to students at off-campus locations and houses four television sets, documents, camera, VCR, and a multimedia computer.
