Online Graduate Orientation

Welcome to the graduate program in English at Jackson State University.

To ensure that you have all of the information you need to be successful in graduate school at JSU, we have prepared a brief online orientation.

The list below contains links to information on the graduate program in English. Read each of these pages carefully, and then click on the link to the Graduate Orientation Assessment. Feel free to print out the informational pages and use them as you answer the assessment questions. The assessment serves two purposes: (1) to make sure that you know where to find information when you need it and (2) to allow us to check that the information we provide you is clear and helpful.

You can only complete the assessment if you have a password. The Coordinator of Graduate Studies in English will send all new graduate students that password via email. If you believe you should have received the password but have not, contact the graduate coordinator, Dr. Candis Pizzetta, at candis.p.pizzetta@jsums.edu.

If you score below a 90%  on the assessment, the graduate coordinator will contact you to discuss the items you missed. It is important to us that you are fully prepared for the requirements of the graduate program prior to beginning course work. In addition, if you have questions or concerns after reading the information provided above, please feel free to contact the graduate coordinator or department chair, Dr. Jean Chamberlain, at jean.d.chamberlain@jsums.edu. We want you to know that we are committed to helping you succeed in your graduate career.
