Students applying for admission to the EPhD Program must first
obtain general admission to the Graduate Division; however, this
admission does not mean automatic admission to the Program.
Applications are accepted year round for admissions each Fall.
Admission to the EPhD Program will be guided by the following criteria:

1) A Master's degree from an accredited university
2) A completed EPhD application
3) Transcripts for all post-secondary work
4) A satisfactory score on the GMAT, GRE or MAT
5) Letters of reference from three (3) professional persons
    who are knowledgeable of the applicant's professional academic
    ability, job experience, leadership potential and availability to
    participate in the program. A letter of reference from the
    President of Chief Executive Officer will strengthen the application.
6) Acceptable evidence of ability as determined by an on-site
    writing sample, completed under the supervision of a screening
    committee member.
7) Clear statement on how previous work relates to urban higher
    education and proposed dissertation top (see state of purpose)
8) A successful interview with the program screening committee
9) Recommendation for admission by the screening committee

Note: Students accepted in this program must be able to transfer
         a minimum of twelve (12) semester hours from previous graduate 
         work to complement the core area. Approval is required by the
         program faculty before being admitted formally and officially to the
         program. Admission will be limited to diverse cohort of 15-25
         participants form higher education faculty, mid/entry level executive
         personnel in higher education and other human service related sectors.

Cost (subject to change)

Tuition and participatory fees for the EPhD is $44,328 for the two
(2) year program for in-state students.  However, in-state students
who commit to a three (3) year employment agreement (beyond the
awarding of the degree) within the state of Mississippi will receive a
$10,452 reduction in tuition.  Also, out-of-state students will pay tuition
and fees of $44,328. (Fees are based on Mississippi IHL fee increase
effective Fall 2005).


The cost of the EPhD includes tuition, housing, books and information
materials, field trips, shuttle service, parking, site visits, and meals once
a month for the period of Thursday through Sunday* and other related fees.
(Only when Sunday sessions are scheduled or otherwise
approved in
advance).  Travel costs to and from Jackson are to be assumed by the
student.  All students are required to reside in the selected housing facility
during the entire period of Thursday through Sunday for all on-site
class modules.


Students who wish to apply for finacial aid must be admitted to the
Division of Graduate Studies as a degree seeking student. Students
admitted to the EphD program are then eligible to apply for the
Stafford Loan. The priority deadline for Financial Aid is April 15
(refer to The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
