Dr. Marcus A. Chanay served as the Vice President for Student Life at Jackson State University from 2008-2014. Dr. Chanay holds degrees from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (B.A.), Mass Communications and from Jackson State University (M.S.), Educational Administration and Supervision. He received his Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University with his dissertation: The Impact of Selected Student Service Programs on Participation and Satisfaction: A Black University Perspective. He currently serves as an adjunct professor in the College of Education and Human Development where he instructs students on building their leadership skills in the realms of Higher Education and Student Affairs. Chanay has made presentations on the state, regional and national levels on topics ranging from student attrition and retention to enhancing the quality of services to students. His research interests include recruiting, retention and involvement of African American males in post-secondary institutions.
