Applicants must be admitted to the Division of Graduate Studies prior
to being admitted to any program at Jackson State University. This is
the first step in the application process.
The application for admissions packet must be completed and submitted
to the Director of Executive Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education by
January 15. The packet must include the EPh.D. application, the
statement of purpose, pre-program assessment, resume/curriculum vitae,
statement of authenticity and three (3) letters of reference
(sent separately). Please return to:

Proprietary Information:
Students will be assigned a student identification number; however,
your Social Security Number (SSN) will be used for official purposes, as
appropriate and based on university policy. If you do not have a SSN, you may
obtain one from the nearest Social Security Office before filing your application.
Age, sex and ethnicity items (optional): Used for statistical purposes
by the U.S. Department of Education under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
Official Transcript:
It is the responsibility of the applicant to submit to the Division of
Graduate Studies two (2) official transcripts from every college and
university attended, even if the courses from one school appear on the
transcript of another.
Transcripts are considered official when they bear an official seal and
institutional signature, and are sent from the issuing college or university
directly to the Division of Graduate Studies.
Transcripts bearing the statement “issued to student” or transcripts
submitted by the applicant are not considered official.
Test Scores:
Test scores are only official when sent directly from the Educational
Testing Service in Princeton, NJ to Jackson State University
(code 1341 for the GRE, GMAT and TOEFL scores;
code 4263 for MAT scores). The TOEFL score is required for all
international applicants. Student copies are not considered official.
Only recent scores, within the past five years are acceptable.
