Contractual
pick up of refuse on a regularly scheduled basis is provided to all academic and research facilities as a budgeted function
of the Department of Facilities & Construction Management. In case of auxiliaries,
this service is prepaid for by the agency. Pickups for special
events must be requested in writing (Property Work Order)
at least one week prior to the date that pick-up is needed.
No hazardous
materials may be disposed of in refuse containers. Examples
of hazardous materials includes, but not limited to:

Combustibles
• Pesticides
• Carcinogens
• Radioactive products
• Toxic and/or unused chemical waste
Hazardous
Materials (HM) – any substance or material that has
been determined to pose an unreasonable risk to health, safety
and property when transported in trade, traffic or ground
transportation within the United States.
Dangerous
Goods (DG) – Any substance or material that has been
determined to pose an unreasonable risk to health, safety
and property when transported internationally or via air cargo.
