Clearance Process: Masters' Degree
Congratulations…
you are nearing the end of your graduate degree career at Jackson State
University.The 'On-line Graduate Clearance' process is completed in the semester you plan to graduate. Dates are published on the Graduate School Website

Basic Requirements
The following are basic requirements for all masters-degree students:
- Completion of the Degree Plan via a Degree Evaluation in PAWS.
- Completed the required semester hours of course work with a ‘B’ average or better.
- Completion of GECE requirement
- Completion of all departmental requirements. (see Graduate Catalog or Departmental Handbook)
- Removal of all Incomplete (I) Grades.
- Completion of the Application for Graduate Degree Candidacy.
At this time you should..
- Conduct a degree evaluation with your advisor. If you have changed your course of study you may need to revise your plan of study or a complete a Course Substitution Form.
- Review the "Guidelines for the Preparing a Masters' Thesis" or "Guidelines for the Preparing of a Masters's Project".

NOTE: The
graduation clearance process is ONLY good for the semester
indicated.
If you DO NOT graduate, you will need to redo the on-line process.

REVIEW THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR
ADVISOR
- Graduate English Competency Examination Requirement completed.
- Graduate Area Comprehensive Examination was taken or will be taken. (Click here for an application).
- Thesis/Project Committee Approved (Click here for Committee Approval Form).
- Committee Report of Defense Results on file in the Division of
Graduate Studies. (Click
here for form).
- All departmental requirements completed.
- Complete on-line
Graduation Clearance Process. (Click

- Cap and gown ordered for Commencement. Obtain information
on Commencement Activities from the JSU
