Message from the Director

Gallery 1 is a fine arts gallery located on the campus of Jackson State University at the prestigious One University Place. Funded through a grant from the United States Department of Commerce Small Business Administration, the gallery serves a dual purpose. It provides a venue for local and national artists to showcase and sell their work and showcases the diverse selections of the University’s permanent art collection currently held on campus.

We hope to play a vital role in educating faculty, staff, students and the communities we serve on the importance and the history of art, and to facilitate their appreciation of the value of art. That is why we will periodically host lectures, showcases, demonstrations, and cultural events geared towards art education.
