Intergrating Arts Across the Disciplines is a JSU Title III that addresses the need to strengthen academic programs through cross-curricular engagement with the arts. Research has shown that activities which involve multidisciplinary exposure through experiences with visual/graphic art, music, art exhibitions, music technology related programming, and other areas of the humanities can positively impact enrollment, retention, and successful matriculation.  Fine arts related programming enhances teacher education, and prepares students to be effective educators who appreciate and understand the means by which these activites increase critical thinking skills. Fully engaging students with resources and scholars in related fields along with proper instruction will expand knowledge promote understanding, develop an appreciation for the visual arts and music arts, and prepare them to compete in the global market while also providing a forum for student engagement.  .Participants (including, students, faculty, staff, and community members) will have the opportunity to expound on aestetics of arts; in addition to enhancing arts education.

Planned events will engage students with faculty from varying disciplines on-campus, satellite locations, and the community in order to assist in producing experts in fields which have underrepresentation by women and people of color. Furthermore, they will supply research matherials and resources which will improve performance of student learning outcomes in courses in the arts as well as encourage joint use of faciltities such as galleries, libraryies, recital halls, and laboratories.
