Share one of your in-depth journal entries from your study abroad experience. The entry should capture the essence of your study abroad experience, reflects your unique living and learning experiences that study abroad provides. It should also help your fellow students and people in the community know, feel and appreciate what it is like to study abroad – the challenging things and the funny stories, moments that made you cringe and ones that changed your life for good.



The journal contest is only open to participants of the 2017 JSU Passport To The World.



All entries must be entered by 11:59 p.m. July 14, 2017.


What To Share

Your journal entry should be a thoughtful, carefully composed descriptive overview of your experiences.

Describe differences between home and abroad.

Help us understand unique cultural or social aspects, events, practices of the country in which you studied.

Explore ways your views of college life, your major, or your career may have changed.

This is your chance to really reflect and share the deeper learning experiences of your time abroad.

Entry should be between 500-750 words.


Judging Criteria

  • Grammar matters! Use correct grammar in your entry.
  • Story telling! Take us on the journey. Be very descriptive with your entry. Describe sights, smells, feelings, etc.
  • Future! How has this experience prepared you for your future.
