Undergraduate
Program
The
Department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in History, the Bachelor
of Science degree in History, a minor in History, and a concentration
in Philosophy and Religion. A minimum of 128 hours must be
completed with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0.
For all programs, the following Core Curriculum requirements are:
- Communications (English, Speech, and a Foreign
Language) - 15-21 hours
- Humanities and Fine Arts - 9 hours
- Social and Behavioral Sciences (including
History of Civilization) - 12 hours
- Natural Sciences (including computer literacy)
- 9-12 hours
- Health or Physical Education - 2-3 hours
- Concepts for Success in College - 2 hours
The total number of hours will range between 49 and 59 depending on
whether a student receives foreign language credit based on his/her
high school record, or takes P.E. instead of Health. Specific
course numbers and titles are identified on the Department's curriculum
sheet.
A minimum grade of "C" must be earned in all History courses. A
2.0 GPA is required for graduation. Additional requirements for
graduation include passage of both the English Proficiency and History
Department exit examinations. For teacher certification passage
of the PRAXIS is required.
