Students interested in on-campus housing must request a housing application. Students applying to housing for the first time must pay a $100.00 non-refundable processing fee before the housing application can be processed. Only students who have been officially admitted to the University may be assigned a room. All students are also requested to present proof of insurance in order to be accepted in housing.
Returning students who signed a housing application before 2015 will not be charged the new fee of $100. The original one time application fee of $75 will remain in effect for the duration of their residence.
Housing Applications are available on the website or you may visit our Campus Office at 1400 John R. Lynch Street, Jackson, MS 39217. We are located inside Campbell College North Residence Hall.
The assignment process begins April 15 for summer and fall housing, and November 15, for the Spring Semester. Housing assignments are made without regard to race, color, creed, sexual orientation, religion or national origin. Room Assignments will be available to view by July 15, 2015. Students may view the room assignment via their P.A.W.S account.
Returning students sign up at a designated time for housing during the Spring Semester for the next academic school year. Each Residence Hall will display information of dates and times. This information will also be placed in other designated areas throughout the campus.
We make every attempt to honor roommate requests. If you have a person in mind for your roommate, be sure to list that person’s name on the housing application along with their J-number (this number is assigned by Jackson State University). Both applicants must be officially admitted to the University. Applicants are also encouraged to submit the housing application at the same time and be certain to note the other person's name on the housing application.
*Reasons why a roommate request may not be honored:
- The person you requested is admitted to the University later than you are.
- You did not list the person’s name on the housing application at the time it was submitted.
- You changed your mind about whom you would like as a roommate.
- The person you selected has a different academic classification.
- After the semester begins, dates are scheduled to address room changes and roommate concerns. After the semester begins, dates are publicized.
New Student Housing Application
All first time freshmen and transfer students are encouraged to submit an application as early as possible. The Application priority deadline date is May 1, 2015. Students must pay a non-refundable application fee of $100.00.
Housing assignments are based on admittance to Jackson State University and receipt of the non-refundable processing fee. Students are also requested to present proof of insurance upon check-in date.

Returning students are encouraged to submit applications as early as possible. For the 2015 and 2016 academic year returning students will be assigned to rooms according to the date the application is received and based on the available spaces. Housing will assign students until all spaces have been filled. Returning students will be housed in JSU Palisades, Tiger Plaza, and Campbell College Suites.
