  • Research Contributions
    • In 1960, Graduate Dean and Department Chair, Oscar Rogers, Ed.D. et al,  founded the Utica Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc (UTPDK). This organization is still providing professional opportunities to Educators, and it continues to sponsor a Youth Legislative and Government Study Project during the summer.
    • In 1986, Brenda K. Thompson, Ph.D.,the Department established a Black College Bowl which competed nationally.  It won first place in 19__, and today the effort is continued by the Honda Challenge Bowl Competitors
    • In 1975, fame attorney and JSU graduate Alvin Chambliss et al, filed the famous Ayers law suit. Today, funds from the settlement of this case provides 519 to Alcorn State, MS Valley State, and Jackson State Universities.
