STATEMENT FROM THE JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION
FOLLOWING THE RESIGNATION OF DR. WILLIAM B. BYNUM, JR.
AS PRESIDENT OF JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY
February 11, 2020
The Jackson State University Development Foundation, Inc. (the “Foundation”) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that is organized and operated to serve as the official fundraising arm of Jackson State University (“JSU”).
The Foundation is disappointed by the turn of events that led to the resignation of Dr. William Bynum as President of JSU. We are confident, however, that JSU’s mission of challenging minds and changing lives will continue uninterrupted as it has since JSU was founded in 1877.
Likewise, please be assured that the Foundation’s mission will remain focused on working collaboratively with JSU to secure resources to support JSU student scholarships, JSU’s endowment, faculty and staff development, annual fund initiatives, and other JSU priorities. Dr. Bynum’s resignation will not deter our efforts and we ask that you keep these goals in mind as we continue to work together now and in the future to raise funds for the good of our students and “Thee I Love.”
