Ms. Loretta Galbreath holds a (BME) from Lincoln University of Missouri, the (MME) from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is currently working towards a Ph. D in Music Education with emphasis in Choral Conducting. Prior to her position here at JSU, she was the Director of Choral Activities at Lincoln University of Missouri. She is the Assistant Choral Director and voice instructor at Jackson State University. She has been commissioned to record a CD for the William grant Still Educational Kit that will be distributed throughout the nation. The request came from Judith Anne Still, the daughter of William Grant Still.

Her many accomplishments while teaching at Lincoln University culminated with her participation in a recording with the Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble and a national recording artist “Nelly. It was released in September 2004. She was the guest organist with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and Charleston Symphony Gospel Choir in December 2004. Ms.Galbreath has been a presenter at the 2005 Missouri Music Education Conference, a presenter at the Church Music Workshop at Jackson State University, named Who’s Who Among Teachers and Colleges and Universities, Who’s Who Among Executive and Professional Women, and Who’s Who of American Women.

She is currently the director of the JSU University Choir, Women’s Chorus, Vocal Jazz Ensemble and teaches applied voice. Ms. Galbreath is the Music Director at Redeemer Church P.C.A. and continues to be an active member of ACDA, MENC, and SAI International Fraternity for Women, Inc.

  • Composed the music for the Lewis and Clark Middle School Song
  • Charter Coordinator for the Mid Missouri Middle School/Junior High Music Festival
  • Who’s Who Among America’s College Teachers at Lincoln University and Jackson State University
  • Ruth Award for Outstanding Leadership and Accomplishments
  • Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble performed at Carnegie Hall
  • Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble recorded with National Rap Artist Nelly at Jupiter Studios
  • Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble was featured at the Missouri State Fair
  • Lincoln University Choir selected to perform in Austria, Germany
  • Selected by the William Grant Still Publishing Company to record a CD of Dr. Still’s choral works
  • Guest musician with the South Carolina Symphony Orchestra
  • Presenter for the Missouri State Music Educator’s Conference
  • Organized a vocal jazz ensemble at Jackson State University ( the first in the history of JSU)
  • Jackson State University will compete at the International Choral Festival in Verona, Italy (April 2007)
  • Jackson State University Vocal Jazz Ensemble won an award at the Alcorn Jazz Festival (2006)
  • Jackson State University Vocal Jazz Ensemble received an Outstand Award at the Alabama Hall of Fame Jazz Festival
