A 1971 Ph.D. in History from the University of Kansas, provides leadership for the development of the Research Center. As a professor of history, she teaches a graduate and undergraduate course in African American History each semester. She has written three books, worked at the National endowment for the Humanities, served as Post Doctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution, and served as a cultural expert in oral history to New Zealand. Harrison is an active cultural preservationist nationally, statewide and locally who serves on many boards and committees.
