Substance Abuse Block Grant (SABG)

 Metro Jackson Community Prevention Coalition (MJCPC) sustains its prevention services through the Substance Abuse Block Grant (SABG) funds provided by the  Mississippi Department of Mental Health (MDMH), Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Services (BADS). MJCPC has been certified to provide prevention services in the Jackson Metropolitan area since 1999 by MDMH/BADS.MJCPC provides two types of direct services in our prevention efforts. First, MJCPC provides the community with technical assistance (written materials on community mobilizing, conducting information and education presentations, providing training opportunities for youth and adults, networking, and other similar activities).  Second, MJCPC serves as a prevention resource to link individuals and families with needed services. MJCPC employs all three of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Classifications (Universal, Selective and Indicates) in delivering prevention services. Over 5,000 consumers are served annually by MJCPC via one are more of the following prevention strategies: information dissemination, education, alternative programs, problem identification & referral, community based process, and environmental strategy
