Dr. Ramon Jackson

Dr. Ramon Jackson serves as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music/ Music Education Coordinator and Assistant Band Director at Jackson State University. Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in music education and music technology. In addition to his responsibilities, Dr. Jackson serves as Webmaster for the University Bands and Department of Music, Director of the Sonic Boom Media Team, Academic Advisor for all band and music majors at Jackson State University.

Prior to joining the faculty at Jackson State University, Dr. Jackson received a DMA in Instrumental Pedagogy from the American Conservatory of Music and holds a Master of Music Education Degree from Jackson State University. He has a diverse record as an educator teaching at Jackson State University, several schools within the Jackson Public Schools District, and surrounding districts.

Dr. Jackson is an active presenter, clinician, and adjudicator. He has presented his research at national, regional, and state conferences. His research interests include assessment in the music classroom, orff-schulwerk approaches, and sight-reading accuracy. His professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), HBCU National Band Directors Consortium, National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Mississippi Bandmasters Association, American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA), and the MS 100 Orff Chapter. Dr. Jackson is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Currently, Dr. Jackson is in the final stages of completing the Ph.D in Music Education from the University of Mississippi.
