IACUC Training
The training or instruction available to scientists, animal technicians, and other personnel involved in animal care, treatment, or use is provided through periodic mandatory attendance workshops. IACUC sponsors periodic in-house mandatory attendance workshops for IACUC members, principal investigators, students and all personnel who come into contact with research animals. These workshops will cover such topics as euthanasia, husbandry, enrichment and a variety of other areas. Certificates of completion are issued to members who complete mandatory workshops.
The IACUC members are provided with the following documents: AWA, PHS Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and the Guide for the Care of Use of Laboratory Animals and the IACUC Handbook. The committee members are given an overview of the animal program at the university and are required to complete the IACUC online Training Course.
