Ph.D. Government, University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. McLemore's research and teaching interests are in Black politics, the Civil Rights Movement and environmental politics. Dr. McLemoren has served in several positions within associations related to the discipline of political science: two terms as president of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists, one term as vice president and program chair for the Southern Political Science Association, one term as president of the Mississippi Political Science Association and on several committees of the American Political Science Association and Midwest Political Science Association. He is the immediate past chair of the Mississippi Humanities Council and is a member of the board of the Federation of State Humanities Councils.
Dr. McLemore was also the founding chair of the Department of Political Science, former Dean of the Graduate School and founding director of the Office of Research Administration. He is also currently president of the Jackson City Council.
