(JACKSON-Miss)- The Jackson State University Walter Payton Recreation and Wellness Center is now registering participants for Camp Tiger Tails, a five-week summer youth camp held from June 1, 2009 through July 3, 2009 at the Payton Center on the university's main campus, 1400 John. R. Lynch Street. The camp, focusing on youth ages 6 to 16 and operating from 7:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, costs $100 per week.
Each weekly session will have a special theme. Campers will be able to enjoy a multitude of activities that will include: arts and crafts, basketball, cooperative games, dance, drama, football, frisbee, battle ball (youth version of dodge ball), nature walks, field trips, soccer, double-dutch jump roping, t-ball, track and field, and volleyball. The Payton center also has partnered with the Mississippi Learning Institute to provide campers with specialized instruction in math, science and reading.
To register, parents must complete the registration form and submit a copy of their child's immunization records or the most recent report card, along with the minimum payment of $25. For complete information and to download a registration form, visit
