Lecia Gresham

(JACKSON, Miss.) - Jackson State University graduate students Lecia Gresham of Birmingham, Ala., and Charlenda Blount of Jackson, Miss., were elected to the board of the National Black Graduate Student Association during the organization's conference March 12-15 in Houston, Texas.
Gresham will serve as the association's South Central Regional Representative, and Blount was elected to its Nominations and Elections Committee. Gresham is the vice president of Jackson State's Graduate Student Association. Blount serves as the association's secretary.
Gresham and Blount attended the conference will fellow students Lamar Reed and Cortessia Badie and JSU graduate student adviser Sarah Foote. Participating schools included the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the University of Maryland, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, the University of South Carolina, Western Michigan University, the University of Arizona, Texas Tech University and the University of Georgia.
The conference offered such networking opportunities as a career fair, student oral and poster presentations and workshops. One of the preliminary speakers was Marshawn Evans, a former Miss America finalist and contestant on the NBC reality show, The Celebrity Apprentice. Evans recently published the book, "SKIRTS in the Boardroom: A Woman's Survival Guide to Success in Business & Life."
