The award is given to outstanding graduating seniors who demonstrate a commitment to work with the alumni association. All awardees have maintained a 3.0 or higher grade point average and have participated in various campus clubs and activities.
"I'm definitely interested in becoming and active member of the association," urban studies graduate Jimmy Farmer said.
A native of Wilson, N.C., Farmer, 32, plans to return to Jackson State in the fall to work toward his master's in public policy and administration at the College of Public Service.
Fellow urban studies graduate, Stephanie Wade of Olive Branch, Miss., also earned the Jacksonian Award of Distinction.
