The Department of Psychology at Jackson State University initially grew out of the Department of Education in 1968. It was finally reorganized and renamed in September of 1971. The Department now has ten faculty members all of whom have diverse training, graduate degrees, and a variety of research interests.

We currently have two programs offered:

Many educational opportunities are available for both undergraduate and graduate students. Colloquia and lecture series are available and open to all students and serve as a forum for guest speakers, plenary meetings, as well as for faculty and student presentations. There are also a number of internal and external interdisciplinary clinical and research training programs that are available to students.

 ATTENTION GRADUATE PROGRAM APPLICANTS!

The original application deadline was January 15th, 2008.  We are aware that many applicants were unable to download the admissions documents from the program’s website due to server maintenance issues; these issues have been resolved and the website is accessible.  Consequently, the committee will begin reviewing completed application files on January 31st, 2008, and will continue to accept application materials until February 21st, 2008.  Application files that remain incomplete by this date will not be reviewed.

If you have any questions concerning the status of your application, please contact the Director of Clinical Training  at (601) 979-1028 or (601) 979-5990.
