When Crime Happens

When crime happens on the campus of Jackson State University, crime alerts will be posted and submitted to the Office of Student Life.

The alerts will be posted in buildings, residence halls and other areas throughout the campus as soon as possible to alert student to the information.

How to Report a Crime

When a crime is committed, one should call the Department of Public Safety at 979-2580, or if calling from a campus phone, simply dial 2580.

Stay on the line so that the dispatcher can secure all needed information--an officer will be dispatched quickly. Or you may come by the Office of Public Safety located directly behind the New Dining Facility. The office is open 24 hours-a-day, seven (7) days a week, or you may go to the Dixon Hall precinct or one of the campus entry gate booths.
