Administrative Staff

The Department of Public Safety is staffed by certified Police Officers that are on duty twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Staffing involves the following components:

* Police officers are certified and receive their training through the Jackson Police Training Academy, and the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy.

* Officers received in-service training through the Jackson Policy Academy, and additional on-site training is con- ducted with the department by a certified law enforce- ment instructor.

* The Department of Public Safety has certified instructors to conduct firearms training, and classroom training on law enforcement issues.

* The department is presently staffed with fifty-two employees.
