What is the QEP?

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a part of the reaffirmation process directed by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the regional accrediting body for higher education. The SACS 2011 QEP:  Global Education through Analytical Reasoning (GEAR) delivers an integrated curriculum, taught by a highly trained faculty, focused on analytical reasoning and foundational skills.  The dual tracts of enhanced rigor in the first and second years and faculty strengthening through the Global Inquiry Faculty Teaching Seminar (GIFTS) are the foundational cornerstones of our QEP. Thus, the primary goal of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is to engage students in a global inquiry cooperative learning community, focusing on analytical reasoning. This activity is intended to dramatically improve the global analytical reasoning and problem solving capacity of students, adding value and rigor to the division’s teaching, research and service mission.
