Through her command and knowledge of the principles and practices of sponsored programs operations and management, Rita Presley has created an authentic connection with the JSU faculty and staff. As second in command of the JSU research and sponsored programs activities, she has coordinated and facilitated the multi-million dollar enterprise for the past two decades. Her commitment to serve as an agent to propel the University to the next level in research funding extends beyond the research office.

In concert with the Vice President, she acts as university liaison with funding agencies, other institutions, and congressional staffer members, vis-à-vis partnering and collaborative ventures. Her work in sponsored programs at Jackson State University is demonstrated through the receipt of millions of dollars for the University, in addition to very meaningful and productive associations and partnerships.

Ms. Presley is a Jackson State University graduate; holds a certification in administrative management from Cornell University; and in 1993, she competed for and was awarded a residential fellowship sponsored by the US Department of Energy to study and experience the grants and contract mechanism within the Federal sector in Washington, DC.
