Student Instructional Rating System (SIRS)
The Office of Academic Affairs coordinates the administration of teaching evaluations, i.e. Student Instructional Rating System (SIRS) surveys, via departments at least one week before the end of the semester. Those survey seeks students' opinions of teaching performance in seventeen questions. (The Center for University Scholars encourages the use of mid-course evaluations solely for the use of the instructor.) The surveys are scanned and processed as quantitative data by the Office of Psychometric Services. The mean scores and standard deviations are tabulated and charted in a Microsoft Excel file by the Center, which distributes that data and SIRS printouts to colleges and departments. SIRS charts and tables from 2002 to the present are available for download below. Use the instructor code sheets to navigate the tabs to particular departments.
