Faculty Development for Student Success

The following applications will remain open from September 10, 2018 through September 25, 2018.

 

The projected dates for the Fall 2018 activities include the following:

  • – Monday, September 17, 2018, 2-3 pm: Program kickoff and informational session
  • – Friday, October 5, 2018, 2-4 pm: Program orientation session with all mentors and protégés
  • – Tuesday, October 16, 2018, 10-11:30 am: Hands-on best practices in teaching with technology workshop
  • – Friday, October 19, 2018, 2-4 pm: Workshop on career development planning (will complete a draft CDP in the workshop)
  • – Monday, November 5, 2018, 2-4 pm: Research design workshop (awaiting confirmation of date)
  • – Friday, November 30, 2018, 2-4 pm: Introductory proposal writing workshop for external funding
  • – Wednesday, December 5, 2018: Exam week coffee and cookie break & meet JSU's researchers
  • – Writing accountability workshops (Writers Anonymous): Faculty participants choose two of these workshops for fall and bring drafts of current projects to receive feedback from peers and from writing coaches. Dates for the Fall 2018 semester are 10/9, 10/18, 10/24, 11/1, 11/14, and 11/29.

 

By submitting an application to this program, faculty are agreeing to make arrangements to take part in all scheduled group activities as well as attending at least two writing accountability workshops.

 

Junior faculty applicants will be asked to submit an updated copy of a CV and a letter of support from their department chair indicating a willingness to allow the faculty participant to take part in all scheduled activities.

Senior faculty applying to serve as mentors will be asked to submit an updated copy of a CV and a letter of support from their department chair indicating a willingness to allow the faculty participant to take part in all scheduled activities.
