University Scholars Symposium

The Center's signature event of the year, the University Scholars Symposium brings together University Scholars with their mentors and collaborators from other higher education and research institutions to discuss their research findings. It provides University Scholars the opportunity to present for critical examination their initial findings before refining them for further presentation and publication. Additionally, it serves as a shared public space for the university community to thoughtfully consider research topics within and across disciplines.

The Holden Lecture Series and presentations by each University Scholars comprise the University Scholars Symposium. Named in honor of Matthew Holden, Jr., a distinguished political scientist, the Holden Lecture features a distinguished social scientist. Professors Ira Katznelson, Theda Skocpol and Glenn Loury presented the first three lectures in 2007, 2008, and 2009, respectively. The 2010 Holden Lecturer will be Prof. Diane Pinderhughes, Professor of Political Science and African Studies at the University of Notre Dame.
