It is our pleasure to invite you and your 11th and 12th grade students to participate in the 31st Annual Mathematics and Engineering Fair on April 13, 2012 hosted by Jackson State University.  The fair will take place on the Jackson State University campus.
Our objective for this fair is to challenge and introduce students to opportunities available at Jackson State University in the fields of mathematics and engineering.  Ultimately, we wish to increase number of majors in these areas. We have also designed special activities for teachers who attend the fair. 
The students will compete in both individual and team competitions in the following events:

  1. Mathematics Bowls (team event)
  2. Mathematics Written Examination (individual event)
  3. Mathematics Exhibits (individual or team event)
  4. Mathematics Essay Contest (individual event)
  5. Bridge Design and Construction Competition  (team event)
  6. Mathematics Trail Competition (team event)
  7. Fun With Calculators Competition (team event)
  8. Puzzle Mania Competition (individual event)
  9. Physics Photo Contest (individual or team event)
  10. Program Cover Competition (individual or team event)
  11. Other events TBA

To insure the quality of the fair, we request that each school select student participants who have a genuine interest in mathematics and have demonstrated talents in mathematics and science.  All student participants must take the mathematics written examination and compete in at least one other competition.
