A playwright, poet, fiction writer and director, JOHN SCOTT has been a practicing artist and taught theatre and ethnic studies for three decades. He received a B.A. from South Carolina State College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Bowling Green State Univerisity (Ohio).
His plays and other works have been produced in universities, (Wayne State University; Florida A&M University; Los Angeles Community College); regional theatres (Cincinnati Playhouse-in-the-Park); off-Broadway in New York by the Negro Ensemble Company and the Afro-American Total Theatre; and on public PBS television.
Dr. Scott has recently lectured, taught and directed plays and programs at HBCU Benedict College (SC), Florida Memorial College (Miami); Dillard University (New Orleans) and is professor emeritus at Bowling Green State University. He is currently Professor & Chair of the Department of Speech Communication & Theatre at Jackson State University (MS).
