Program/Area Mission Statement:
The mission of the Student Life HIV/AIDS Project is to raise awareness of HIV/STD's throughout Jackson State University as well as the surrounding community. Through social events as well as individual growth the university educates by providing a environment of overall awareness. As a "beacon" of awareness for all members of the Jackson State University family the Student Life HIV/AIDS Project strives to produce materials that will ultimately enhance the knowledge of HIV/AIDS as well as other STD's the plague the campus and surrounding community.
1. Saving out Sisters, Brothers United: Providing students with hands on HIV/STD prevention workshops for males and females
2.World Aids Day: Provide students with an activity to observe and unify themselves against a deadly disease
3. Morning Talk Show 97.7 FM with DJ Doc: Inform the metropolitan area of the HIV/AIDS Awareness Day Program, and other upcoming events
4. Testing Day with MSDH: Collaboration with the Mississippi State Health Department Mobile unit testing on campus
5. A Black History Program Celebrating National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day: For the students of JSU as well as the community to interact with a person who is infected with HIV to give guidance on safe sexual measures
6. Testing Day: located in the Union with Project S.A.F.E: For students to take advantage of the resting services that are provided on JSU’s campus |
