Absalom Jones Anglican Campus Ministry
Welcome to the Campus Ministry of the Episcopal Church at Jackson State University known as the Absalom Jones Anglican. This Campus ministry is named for the first African American Priest in the Episcopal Church (c.1795) and reflects the fact that as the Episcopal Church we are part of the world wide Anglican Communion.
There have been earlier efforts by St. Mark Episcopal Church to reach the Jackson State community, but beginning with the fall term of 2006, the Episcopal Church has launched a new initiative to engage the hearts, minds, and spirits of the students, faculty, and staff of this special community led by The Rev. Dr. William Ndishabandi, an Episcopal Priest in Mississippi and a native of Uganda. This new ministry will offer a variety
of programs and opportunities to deepen our walk with Christ so that we might be shaped into instruments of history and hope in our world.
We are excited about being present on the Jackson State Campus. We deeply appreciate the support of the President, Dr. Ronald Maison Jr. And his Jackson State Administration. We are most grateful for the support of the Rev. Dr. Richard Middleton III and the congregation of St. Marks Episcopal Church. We look forward to being with you in creative, life giving, and faithful ways.
Yours in Christ,
The Rt. Rev. Duncan M. Gray III, D.D.
