VISION
When we think about HBCU’s there is only one word that
encompasses its entire mission and purpose and that word is
“CHANGE”. As we embark on a new year at Jackson State
University we need a project that will not only speak to the
soul of Jackson State University but the community as well.
For this reason, college students as well as faculty members,
the staff and administrators need to unite as one and
challenge themselves to make a change for Jackson State
University and the community. With this being said, change
will occur.
MISSION
It is the responsibility of each person within the university to challenge themselves to change a different aspect of life for their school or the community.
“Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find.”
The goal and mission of this platform is tying you into Jackson State University by challenging students, faculty members, the staff and administrators to make a change not only for themselves but Jackson State University and in the surrounding community as well by:
-
Ensuring that all students are tied into Jackson State University by knowing what’s going on within the campus, the student government association and the community as well by allowing them to get involved in various organizations, clubs, and etc on the campus.
-
Promote activities by creating educational noontime series on the pedestrian mall, forums, seminars and other facilities at Jackson State University that will target change in a different aspect of life by tying the students at JSU in and listening to the issues and concerns that they may have for the university as well as the community and challenge students to help make a change either by the month, months or by the semester.
-
Asking for the support of the student government association and residence life division by allowing them to collaborate in providing forums on the issues and concerns of the Jackson State University family. (Examples: STD’s and AIDS awareness, parking, eating healthier,
unity amongst the Jackson State University family and etc.)
-
Assist with ensuring that the orientation experience allows the students to get involved and express their concerns about JSU, college life and what to expect, mentoring programs and the challenges that they may face
coming into college.
“Uniting and Developing a better Jackson State University that is steady changing for the better”
Objective:
To listen to the concerns of the students by tying them into JSU,
challenging them and promoting change throughout the year at JSU as well as the community.
