Participants in this intensive two week summer workshop will explore the history of the Southern Civil Rights Movement, focusing on the contributions and sacrifices made by young people during this tumultuous time. The workshop will include classroom discussions led by faculty of the Hamer Institute and select guest speakers; oral history panels featuring the insights of people who participated in civil rights activities in Mississippi; group and individual projects; and visits to several landmarks of the Civil Rights Movement. The program is designed for middle and high school students from the Jackson metropolitan area.

Fees: The Hamer Institute will pay for the cost of food, field trips and t-shirts.
