Leslie File is a community college transfer student from Hinds Community College.  A senior English major, she hopes to start immediately working on her master’s degree after graduation.  When asked about how Leslie heard about Jackson State University, she responded, “Local radio ads and by word of mouth, and everything that I heard, was all TRUE.”  Excited and energized about the possibilities of the future, Leslie says, “she is more than prepared, after receiving her academic education from JSU”.

Tylisha Shade’ Jones

Tylisha Shade’ Jones is a senior Elementary Education major, who transferred from Coahoma Community College.  She was “delighted and excited” to receive a JSU Transfer scholarship from the university upon entering as a junior.  After graduating, Tylisha plans to attend one of the many graduate programs that Jackson State University has to offer.

Silva D. Jackson

Silva D. Jackson is a transfer student from Copiah –Lincoln Community College, now classified as a junior at Jackson State University.  She is a psychology major, who is involved in such activities as Alpha Mu Gamma.  When asked why she chose JSU, she replied, “I choose JSU because of the many academic choices, more specially the College of Liberal Arts.  Jackson State University has allowed me to grow.  I’ve experience the opportunity of organizational membership, academic achievement, community service and scholarships.  JSU has provided opportunities that have been endless, to help me achieve my educational goals”.  After graduation, Silva plans to attend graduate at JSU.

Your Home Away From Home

Aden Brown

Aden Brown is a recent graduate of Jackson State University, who was a transfer from Jones County Junior College.  Brown, a Mass Communications major, said he chose JSU because, “They have a very good mass communications program, along with wonderful scholarships opportunities”. After graduation, he plans on starting a career in journalism, and he currently works with WJTV.

Elias Wells

Elias Wells transferred into Jackson State University as a junior from Coahoma Community College, and immediately began his academic journey as a criminal justice major.  Already involved in a host of activities and organizations, Elias gives a great amount of his time to football, FCA and SGA here on campus.  Impressed from the moment he visited the campus, Elias said, “It was the friendly atmosphere, and the family oriented environment that confirmed this would be his new home away from home”.
