Welcome Center Seminar – Noon
September is National Preparedness Month and we are in the middle of the hurricane season. Are you prepared for a possible disaster? Transfer Success Mentor Program
Transfer Success Mentors (TSMs) will be an integral component of the JSU’s Office of Community College Relations team. They will serve as academic and social role models for community college transfer students, sharing their own successes and setbacks in developing study habits, taking advantage of campus resources, managing their time, and navigating the campus. Promoting Achievement in Mathematics through Technology and the Common Core State Standards (PAMS2)
The goal of PAMS2 is a 20-day summer program for middle and high school teachers. It is designed to build a strong foundation in mathematics content through a discovery, hands-on and technology approach. Mandatory Events Management Training
The Department of Events will be conducting a second series of Mandatory Events Management Training in the classroom inside the Innovate center for those individuals that were not able to attend the July sessions. Training sessions will be held on the following days (each session provides the same information):
- Monday, August 18th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
- Monday, August 18th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 19th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
- Tuesday, August 19th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.]
These training sessions will go over the new policies and procedures for booking events on campus as well as use of the online EMS system. All departmental event planners, event committee chairpersons, club/organization advisers and event facility managers are required to attend. Feel free to forward this invitation to the appropriate person(s) within your area. Completion of this annual training is required in order to host campus events during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Institutional Change through Faculty Advancement in Instruction and Mentoring (IC FAIM) is offering workshops on Faculty Professional Development in Instruction and Mentoring
The goal is the improvement in student learning through faculty advancement. We anticipate to have 20 faculty participants on the basis of first come first served.
Kids Kollege Afterschool Program and Extended Hours program
The Kids Kollege afterschool program begins on Aug. 18 and is for 2nd through 8th grade students. The program runs Monday through Friday, 2:30 until 5:30. The Beyond the Bell Extended hours program starts on on Aug. 25 and will be held Monday through Thursday, 6 – 8:50 p.m. <

Memo: JSU Social Media Directory and Policy
University Communications is preparing a JSU Social Media website that will include a directory of all of the university's social media profiles and pages. We are asking every department, college or division that has any social media profiles and pages (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest, etc.) to complete this form for inclusion in that directory. Additionally, effective immediately, any new university associated social media pages or profiles must be approved by University Communications before launch. The approval process begins with the completion of the form above. Additionally, all university-related social media sites must adhere to this policy (click here to see policy). Video Recording or Live Video Streaming Requests
In an effort to further promote Jackson State University, University Communications would like to record or stream live video of university events (such as programs, concerts, theatre productions, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.) to audiences all over the world via the Internet. These videos can be used (for example) on departmental websites to promote highlights of the department, among other things. If you'd like to have video of your event recorded or streamed lived please notify us by completing this Videography Request Form at least one week before the date of the event. Videography requests that are not submitted within the appropriate time frame may not be considered.
The JSU family is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Lee Ervin Campbell, Sr., husband of Mrs. Brenda Cottrell Campbell, Executive Assistant for VP of Research and Federal Relations. Mr. Campbell succumbed on Thursday, August 14, 2014.
