Criterion® Online Writing Evaluation Service
The Richard Wright Center subscribed to the ETS Criterion service during the fall 2012 semester. The Criterion® Online Writing Evaluation service provides instructors and students with reliable evaluations of English-language essays. It delivers immediate score reporting and diagnostic feedback that students can use to revise and resubmit their essays. Instructors can use their own topics or select from the Criterion topic library of more than 400 essay assignments at various skill levels.
This service has the potential to be very valuable to JSU faculty and students, because it provides immediate feedback to writers on sentence structure, spelling, and punctuation. The system does not evaluate the content of the written work, which is the purview of the instructor.
This online writing evaluation service is available to currently enrolled Jackson State University undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff. Our goal is to enroll at least 3,500 JSU users in ETS Criterion.
