Strategic Aims

To achieve the Institute's mission,

  • Partnerships will be formed with major health-related organizations and providers of health care in Mississippi to engage in collaborative and contract-funded research aimed at addressing major health and health care disparities and issues in the state.

  • The infrastructure of the Institute will be built through grants and contracts from federal, state and local agencies and foundations to perform epidemiologic and health services research, as well as through collaborative research opportunities, internal scholarships and internships.

  • Faculty, administrators and students at Jackson State University and other research institutes within the university will work together to build on existing resources by facilitating interdisciplinary research in epidemiology and health services research.

  • Form collaborative partnerships with health-related organizations and providers of health care in Mississippi.

  • Build the infrastructure of the Institute through training grants, scholarships, and internships.

  • Work with faculty, administrators, and students at JSU to build on existing resources, by facilitating interdisciplinary research in epidemiology and health services research.

  • Assemble needed data to support social and legislative changes to improve the health and quality of health care of Mississippians.

  • Provide opportunities for faculty and students to train in epidemiological methods and health services research.
